WOULD YOU DRESS UP YOUR POODLE?

After seeing so much negative comments publicised lately I decided to do some research, I love dressing up my poodle when its cold, but I was made to think twice when I read that we are cruel human beings for doing so……. This is my toy poodle in her jumper.

As you can see by the photo she is perfectly content being in her jumper and her bows. My toy poodle loves to be dressed and even more loves the attention she gets from wearing them. Poodles love attention and fuss so when she gets her different coats/jumpers/dresses on she parades around the house like a princess.Clipped and without her clothes on this is what she looks like.

as you see by the picture that when its cold/wet/windy she feels the cold so by dressing her she doesn’t feel the cold, she feels warm and happy. I clip my poodle short as we are always on walks along the beach or in the countryside and by keeping her coat short its a lot easier to maintain it clean and healthy.

The comments that I have read are the following….

-prevent good communication with owners

-you are inhibiting the dog’s capability to communicate with other dogs

-movements restricted

-impede the good circulation of blood in their body

-make their living conditions worse

-makes dogs aggressive

I agree that some types of clothes restrict movement but if your careful and shop wisely then that shouldn’t be a problem, I also don’t see how a jumper/coat can prevent good communication as they have their paws, tail, head and ears free and not restricted therefore can use them to communicate with other dogs.

I am no expert but my opinion on the matter is that if your dog has a medical condition or feels the cold then i don’t see a problem as long as the clothes fit well and the dog is happy wearing them, like I say it’s just my opinion. If your dog doesn’t like something then don’t force them.
